queen + adam lambert: summer festival tour

Queen + Adam Lambert (QAL) is a collaboration between the active members of the original Queen band and American singer Adam Lambert. Performing together since 2011, their 2016 tour commenced in May in Lisbon, ending in Bangkok in September.

Working as the project manager for Brilliant Stages, on behalf of Stufish Entertainment Architects, I coordinated the detailed design, engineering and manufacture of the touring stage design.

Forming the backdrop of the design is the large Oculus backdrop which uses ingenious manipulation of perspective to bring the central golden Q to appear in relief; this transitions into rolling floor scenery and a central drum riser to form the distinctive tail of the Q.

As well as the requirement to design a modular rapid deployment structure for use on festival stages and suitable for airfreight, the design has in excess of 200 integrated theatrical luminaire including moving lighting, lasers, strobes and LED Neon Flex.
