Unreal | Perforce Integration

Having started a project in Unreal Engine with multinational collaborators and large file sizes, it became apparent during week 1 that we required a cloud based hosting and source control solution for the project to be able to effectively operate. With Unreal Engine that’s no problem because of the seamless integration with industry standard source control software Helix Core from Perforce. What’s more, for indie collaborators with less than 5 project users it is completely free.

You can manage the project through the P4V client window, but it is fully integrated into the Unreal editor so game artists can submit and check out items from the cloud based project depot with the minimum of effort. Setting up the cloud server to host the project is simple enough using Digital Ocean as the hosting service, and this tutorial bridges you through the linux setup requirements into a fully functional system allowing you to find your feet with the Helix Core ecosystem and start collaborating on projects with developers around the world.
