Thanks to Coursera for their excellent Introduction to Game Development Course by Michigan State University to teach you the basics of the Unity Engine.

I think it always starts with primitive rolling balls, instantiating cubes and fear of C#! As part of the structured learning you produce a couple of small WebGL prototypes, which are embedded below.
